Air is the best medium to clean out coal bed methane wells (use the correct BOP equipment with it). Side port jetting with air can be beneficial. Remember air boosters are required in wells with heavy water production. Using air provides an early estimate of well productivity and hence permeability (from water rates). If you are in an area where fracture stimulation works, in our experience and with the lowest gas prices in the world in Qld, water-sand fracs have often proven to be the most cost effective and least damaging.  Become familiar with your legislation. For example in Qld, the Regulations stipulate minimum standards required for wellheads, BOP’s, casing and tubing etc.  Does your wellhead meet ISO (or API) specification? Does your BOP? How about your casing? For coalbed methane production wells, contract a drilling rig capable of running Range 3 oilfield casing (or use a workover rig to do it). Cranes weren’t invented to run casing, rigs were. Remember the 6-P rule: Prior planning prevents p*** poor performance.
